My brother Didier
Didier is the son of a restaurant-owner just as Bernard, his other brother and myself. Didier already had something “special” when he was very little: he wanted more than we did. We never really understood this little “something” he had. For example: despite his painful tibias, he would go through the training session two times more – while others were putting away their skis. Thanks to this attitude, he was able to climb the ladder of the Swiss skiing hierarchy - and then that of the World ski scene.
When he was an apprentice, Didier regularly took the train with several pairs of skis - to go work out with the Valais teams or those of other regions… Thanks to his Apprentice Master’s comprehension, he could leave on Thursday night and then spend the whole weekend competing. He often came back late Sunday night, fulfilled the obligations of his training and was back apprenticing at 6 am on Monday morning! It wasn’t easy for my brother, but where others - who were just as talented - gave up, Didier persevered; because skiing was truly his life’s passion.
